Parent Management Training (PMT)
Parent Management Training (PMT) is a short-term treatment program that focuses on providing positive reinforcement for appropriate behavior. PMT helps to alter parenting behaviors to reduce disruptive child behaviors while improving parent mental health. PMT is an empirically validated intervention that is particularly impactful for children aged 2-17 with moderate to severe behavioral challenges, including children who have been diagnosed with Oppositional Defiance Disorder or Conduct Disorder.
Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA)
employs scientific behavioral principles to shape a learner’s environment,
facilitating efficient and effective skills development. ABA therapy tailors its techniques to meet the unique needs of every learner. ABA is a safe and proven therapy for removing socially and physically harmful behaviors, including behaviors associated with Autism Spectrum Disorder. ABA relies on evidence-backed principles based on academic study, which are applied based on direct observation by a therapist. At its core, ABA modifies a child’s environment to create a behavior change. Dorrie establishes goals in conjunction with parents and as much as possible with the individual receiving ABA therapy. In addition to helping children with ASD, ABA has been clinically proven to reduce the amount of time and dosage level of medication children with ADHD need to be successful.
Includes Functional Behavior Assessments, Behavior Intervention
Plans, and ABA Skills Assessments.
Couples Therapy
Parenting can apply unique and intense stress on relationships. As a parenting partner and a professional, Dorrie understands this and offers psychotherapy to help parents maintain a healthy relationship while partnering successfully in parenthood.
Schema Therapy
Schema therapy is an innovative psychotherapy developed by Dr. Jeffrey Young for personality disorders, chronic depression, and other difficult individual and couples problems. Schema therapy integrates elements of cognitive therapy, behavior therapy, object relations, and gestalt therapy into one unified, systematic approach to treatment. Schema therapy has also been effectively integrated with mindfulness, interpersonal neurobiology, ACT, DBT, EMDR, and EFT
Assessments
Dorrie provides assessments to help parents, schools, and courts decide and implement appropriate services and interventions for children. Dorrie offers School Refusal Assessments, ABA Skills Assessments, Functional Behavior Analysis, and Behavior Intervention Plans.
School & Teacher Consultations
Sometimes, children or teenagers may struggle in school because of behaviors associated with a diagnosis. Dorrie can help by collaborating with parents, schools, and teachers to get a full picture of each learner’s strengths and areas for growth. Using data and evidence-based practices, Dorrie will create a plan that works across settings and providers to help kids to reach their potential. Dorrie also offers training for teachers and staff.
PCIT-SM
Dorrie treats PCIT-SM (Selective Mutism) through Manhattan Psychology Group.
Parent Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT)
Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT) is an evidence-based treatment that helps children and their caregivers. PCIT was designed to help caregivers of children aged 2-7 with behavioral challenges to parent effectively, improve relationships, and reduce maladaptive behaviors. PCIT occurs across two treatment phases and can be completed within 12-20 sessions, depending on parental adherence and consistency. Treatment is complete when you have become proficient in the skills across both treatment phases, and your child’s behavior is rated within normal limits on a behavior rating scale. For more information on PCIT, visit www.PCIT.org.
Individual Psychotherapy
Dorrie works with children, teens, and adults to identify goals, roadblocks, and pathways to satisfaction through talk-therapy. Trained in Behavioral Therapy and Schema Therapy, Dorrie partners with her clients to help address short- and long-term challenges and maximize success.
Expert Witness
Dorrie completes document review, assessments, observations, and interviews in addition to extensive clinical experience to testify as an impartial witness in court cases related to a child’s learning environment, and behavioral, educational, and psychological services.
SPACE
SPACE is an evidence-based parent-based treatment for children and teens struggling with anxiety, OCD, school refusal, selective mutism, and other avoidance behaviors. Unlike traditional therapy models that rely primarily on direct child participation, SPACE works by helping parents respond supportively to anxiety while gradually reducing accommodations that unintentionally reinforce it.
SPACE can be especially effective for children who are resistant to therapy participation or highly avoidant. Through collaboration, education, and practical behavioral strategies, Dorrie helps parents better understand the cycle of anxiety and build confidence in responding effectively to difficult situations.
As both a therapist and behavior analyst, Dorrie integrates evidence-based behavioral principles with a warm, empathetic approach to help families reduce stress, improve functioning, and support long-term resilience.
